A Yoruba star actress, Hassanat Akinwande Taiwo, on Saturday allegedly excreted 92 wraps of cocaine following her arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, on her way to London. The NDLEA on Monday said she had not been charged to court because the agency believed there were still drug left in her system after she excreted the 92 wraps. Taiwo was popularly called Yetunde Wunmi in some movies she featured. NDLEA Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Mr. Jonah Achema, confirmed the arrest in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday. He also said the actress excreted up to 92 wraps of cocaine, following an injection given her after the arrest. However, the official noted that there were indications that more of the substance was still in her system. “That is why we have not charged her to court,” Achema said. “Since the substance she is excreting is the main evidence we have against her, we have to wait for her to finish excreting,” he added. Until Taiwo’s arrest, a rumour had been making the rounds about the involvement of some actors and actresses in drug trade. For instance, it was widely rumoured not long ago that a popular comedian, whose face is a common currency in many Yoruba home videos, was arrested and jailed abroad in connection with drug trafficking.
