A member of the House of Representatives, Abike Dabiri, has donated an information and communication centre to the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Dabiri, at the inauguration of the centre on Friday, said it had 21 computers connected to the Internet.
The legislator, representing Ikorodu, said the centre had so far trained 70 students in the local government.
She added that no school in the area would be left out of the programme.
”Gradually, we are going to design programmes like web-design and others, which will enable students to earn a living,” she said.
At the event, the Executive Vice-Chairman of the National Communications Commission, Mr. Ernest Ndukwe, pledged the NCC‘s commitment to the project.
He said the project was borne ”out of a vision to improve education through the introduction of ICT at an early stage.”
