The Nigeria Football Association is seeking sponsors to keep the Super Eagles together in the busy month of June when four qualifying games for the South Africa 2010 will be played.
NFA Chairman, Sani Lulu, told reporters in Lagos on Wednesday that the body had no resources to achieve its desired aim next month.
He argued that the schedule was tight for all the countries involved in the qualifiers but there must be a good plan for the players in the busy month.
Lulu said, “This is the first time such a tight schedule is being experienced and one has to be ready to achieve results under the situation.
“We need money to keep the players throughout the month and that has to be huge. We have been discussing with our sponsors but there is nothing concrete yet. The plan is to ensure maximum concentration and high team spirit.
“It is good that the players will not be busy with their clubs by then and so we intend to do our best to win our four games.”
On the relationship so far with new Eagles coach, Shaibu Amodu, Lulu promised to give the former Orlando Pirates coach the total support to achieve results.
He said, “The NFA did so much for coach Berti Vogts and I personally went the extra mile to satisfy him just because I was eager to give Nigerians results.
“This time, I will double my efforts for Amodu who is one of us. For example, Vogts insisted during his tenure that he would only fly business class. I have instructed my officials to extend a similar gesture to Amodu. My board members and I will fly economy class but since we have that standard already for the coach, so be it.”
Lulu stressed the importance of the forthcoming friendly encounter against Austria holding in Graz on May 27.
“We intend to use the match to plan for the qualifiers. All players, injured or fit, have been told to report there,” he said.
