Equatorial Guinea defender, Laurence Doe, has said that the Super Eagles were lucky to get the win in their 2010 Nations Cup/World Cup qualifier in Malabo on Sunday.
Joseph Yobo‘s fifth minute goal condemned the Nzalang Nacional to their second defeat of the campaign, seriously compromising their chances of qualification. But the Liberian-born player said he had no reason to be disappointed.
Doe told Kick-OffNigeria.com, They got lucky because we were not looking at the big names in their team. We played 90 minutes and they scored in the first ten minutes.
We cannot say because they won, they are better than us. We are a small country, we are just coming up and we are improving so we cannot say they are better than us.
I don‘t feel bad because we played very well but there was no chance for us to score. They had the chance and they scored.
We did our best to win the game and we had the possibility of scoring a goal but we did not succeed. So we need to work hard to prepare for the next game to see what we can do.”
The two teams meet again in the return fixture in Abuja on Saturday.
