MEN of the Joint Task Force on the Niger Delta on Saturday discovered another illegal refinery at Kira in Tai Local Government of Rivers State.

The spokesman for the force, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa confirmed the discovery to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

He said 12 persons were arrested at the site of the refinery.

The suspects were said to have locally refined oil into diesel, petrol and condensate.

They reportedly tapped from existing crude pipelines belonging to one of the oil majors.

The refinery was reportedly big and massive and seemed to be expanding with new entrants into the business.

Musa said no gun was fired and no casualty recorded on both sides.

Some items such as drums, cloth, plastic rubbers, and torchlight were destroyed. Over 10 motorcycles were also recovered.
